State Education Officials Release Timeline for New Schools

State officials said this week that new schools being built to replace those damaged by the 2016 floods in Kanawha and Nicholas counties are expected to be completed by 2023 and 2024. A new Herbert Hoover High School will be finished in the summer of 2023 and a new Clendenin Elementary School is expected to be completed by fall 2023. The West Virginia Department of Education also said the Cherry River site in Nicholas County, which will house Cherry River Elementary, Richwood Middle School and Richwood High School, is expected to be finished by the end of 2023. The Glade Creek site, which will include Summersville Middle, Nicholas County High School and Nicholas County Career Technical Center, is slated for completion by the end of 2024.
