Tick Season Brings the Risk of Lyme Disease

As the weather warms up and you spend more time outside, health officials have some warnings about Lyme disease. Tick eggs are hatching this time of year, and with that comes the threat of disease, especially as some species of ticks become more common in West Virginia. The CDC reported that Lyme disease cases in West Virginia are up over 750 prcent since 2012. Lyme disease is carried by the blacklegged tick, or deer tick. Repellants containing DEET will help keep ticks away.
