Wayne County Schools Ask for SBA Money to Enclose Buildings

The Wayne County School Board is trying to secure $1 million from the School Building Authority in order to make Wayne Middle School a safer campus. The school board is proposing building enclosures over all of their breezeways to make what is now four buildings one big middle school building. Superintendent Todd Alexander says right now students changing classes between buildings are visible from the road and to visitors outside, so that is what they are trying to change. The proposal is asking the SBA for $1 million as a part of the Major Improvement Project Grants. Wayne County submitted the proposal on Tuesday. It will then go onto the School Building Authority who will make the selections for funding in June.
