3 New School Board Members to be Elected This Spring

There are nine candidates on the ballot all vying for the three open seats on the Kanawha County Board of Education. It’s on a nonpartisan ballot, and they will be elected in the primary instead of the election this fall, according to Kanawha County Clerk Vera McCormick. WCHS TV also pointed out that the candidates have to run in districts and there can only be two board members from any district at one time on the board, per state law. There are four districts in Kanawha County based on location. Early voting is on through May 7, with election day on May 10. Each elected board member will serve four year terms.
