Crews Contain Motel Fire to One Wing and No One Was Injured

A motel in Kanawha County suffered heavy fire damage Sunday morning. A portion of the Rustic Motel Efficiency Apartments in Jefferson caught fire around 3:30 a.m., according to Metro 911. The Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department gained help from fire units in Saint Albans, Institute, South Charleston and Tornado in addition to Kanawha County deputies, ambulance drivers and emergency crews. Firefighters reported they were able to contain the blaze to the east wing of the building and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office.
