The Jackson County Animal Shelter broke ground on its new facility this week. The current building is nearly 50 years old. The new shelter will have more kennels and special rooms for dogs and cats with extra needs. It’s also expected to have more space for volunteers with access to trails. Construction on the new shelter is already underway.
