The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said a 15-year-old student was taken into custody Wednesday morning after a report that a student had a handgun on a school bus. Deputies responded to a county elementary school and secured the gun that the school system said was found in a backpack. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
