Julio Almonte from Bronx, New York pleaded guilty this week to his role in a wire fraud scheme that ued stolen identities buy two new trucks worth more than $100,000 from a pair of Charleston dealerships. Court documents show Almonte traveled to West Virginia in June 2018 to buy the trucks using fraudulent ID cards and stolen identities. Almonte was arrested by West Virginia State Police the same month, as he tried to drive one of the stolen vehicles back to New York. Almonte pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He will be sentenced on July 20.
