The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department has been testing new cameras. There are two officers testing out body cameras – something the department has never had. Dash cams are also being tested, and it’s been a decade since the sheriff’s office has used those. The sheriff’s department is applying for a grant to cover the cost of the cameras, and it has asked the Kanawha County Commission to cover anything that grant money will not cover.
