The new Herbert High School is taking shape. Williamson Shriver Architects Inc. and Swope Construction Co. shared pictures on their Facebook page to show construction progress. WCHS TV reported the project is about halfway completed and is estimated to be finished in the summer 2023. Students will likely start classes at the new school in fall 2023, according to Briana Warner, communications director for Kanawha County Schools. The new school is being built in the Given Fork area between the Elkview exit off Interstate 79 and U.S. 119. Herbert Hoover students have been attending classes in portables since the devastating flood in 2016.
