Election results from Tuesday’s primary…The Associated Press has projected Alex Mooney as the winner over David McKinley in West Virginia’s 2nd U.S. House of Representatives Republican race. Incumbent U.S. Rep. Carol Miller breezed into the Republican nomination in West Virginia’s 1st District race Tuesday. She will now vie for her third term in the House in the fall against Democrat Lacy Watson, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary.
Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin rolled Tuesday to a primary win as she seeks re-election to the position this fall. Goodwin defeated fellow Democrat Martec D. Washington with 77% of the vote to win the nomination.Goodwin became the first woman to hold the position in the city’s history in 2018. Goodwin will face Republican Lance Wolfe in the general election this November.
Three incumbents on the Kanawha County school board clinched victories. Ryan White led the field with 22%, while Tracy White had 16% and Becky Jones Jordon had 15%.
