The city of Charleston is tasked to dish out $36.8 million in American Rescue Plans funds to projects such as infrastructure and tourism, plus community organizations.
After three meetings, the city’s American Rescue Plan Advisory Committee recommended an allocation plan that included 32 organizations plus city projects. The council voted on nine applications on Monday, and awarded money to these groups: YWCA Resolve Family Abuse Program, YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter, WV Symphony Orchestra, Kanawha Charleston Health Department, Kanawha Valley Collective, FestiVall, Charleston Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Charleston Area Alliance, and Bright Futures Now. The next council meeting will be May 16.
