State’s High Court Declines to Overturn Candidate’s Residency Case

The West Virginia Supreme Court announced Friday it would not reverse an order ruling state Senate candidate Andrea Kiessling ineligible to run in the primary. Justices said “the court is of the opinion to and does refuse the motion for temporary stay and the motion for expedited consideration is refused as moot.” Kiessling was ruled ineligible by a Kanawha County judge Wednesday after he found that she did not meet residency requirements. The GOP candidate was vying for the 8th District Senate spot.
