Seven more American Rescue Plan Act grant applications were approved by Charleston City Council this week. The approved applicants were recommended by an advisory committee and reviewed by the city and a consultant, received a total of $1.94 million according to a news release from the city. Among the grant recipients: Hope for Appalachia to go toward The Harbor House, helping pregnant women battling addiction; Midian Leadership Project to provide trauma-informed mentor coaches to work with youth; and the Partnership of African American Churches to address mental health needs on Charleston’s West Side.
