Charleston Man to Serve Prison Time for Child Pornography

Federal prosecutors said a Charleston man previously convicted of sexually assaulting a female juvenile has been sentenced to prison in a child pornography case. Brian Wayne Shaffer was sentenced to 25 years in prison, to be followed by supervised release for the rest of his life, according to a news release Friday from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia. He also must register as a sex offender. Shaffer admitted to using his cell phone to take an inappropriate photograph of a female juvenile with whom he was living in August 2021. Shaffer was convicted on March 2, 2021, in Kanawha County Circuit Court.
