Harbor House Aims to Help Pregnant Women Recover From Addiction

An organization that’s been helping people get back on their feet through addiction recovery since 2015 is looking to expand their services to assist another group of people in need. Hope for Appalachia has been providing housing and resources to people in need for the last seven years. Staff there were recently awarded $45,000 from the city of Charleston’s American Rescue Plan money to help get The Harbor House off the ground. That will be a safe haven for pregnant women who are battling drug addiction. In partnership with Charleston Area Medical Center’s health addiction program, women will be able to stay at Harbor House throughout their pregnancy and after birth as they continue their journey with addiction recovery.
