Jurors will resume deliberations this morning in the murder trial of Joshua Phillips, accused in the shooting of Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson. Jurors took a brief break after closing arguments Thursday and then were told to report back for deliberations about 3:30 p.m. After deliberating in the afternoon, jurors went home for the day and will resume deliberations at 9 a.m. this morning. Phillips is charged with first-degree murder in the December 2020 shooting death of Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson. He also is charged with possession with the intent to deliver Klonopin pills he allegedly purchased just before the shooting.
