Shortage of Drivers with CDL Licenses Shortens KRT Schedule

Citing a driver shortage, KRT announced that it will transition to a “Saturday service” schedule that will increase the interval time between trips but will still continue to serve all routes. KRT said transportation agencies across the country have been experiencing a Commercial Driver License shortage the last few years, due to the pandemic and stingent licensing requirements. The schedule change will be in effect until the situation is resolved. KRT has conducted driver recruiting advertising campaigns, attended job fairs in the region and increased overtime incentives for drivers. The agency is developing an entry level driver training program.
