Vaccines for Kids Under 5 Should Arrive Next Week

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department announced Wednesday it has placed its first order of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for children under the age of five. Dr. Steven Eshenaur, health officer and executive director, said the department is currently working to train more staff to administer the shots. The vaccines are anticipated to arrive within the next week. The Pfizer vaccine for children ages six months to four years is given as a series of three shots. Moderna’s vaccine is a two-shot regimen and approved for ages 6 months to five years. Vaccines are given Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department on 108 Lee Street East in Charleston.
