Boone County Renamed to Honor a Veteran

A stretch of road in Boone County has a new name. A portion of Route 85 near Jarrell’s Branch Road has been renamed “USMC Corporal Roger Lee Boothe Memorial Road.” County and community leaders told WCHS TV that this project has been about two years in the making. Boothe served in Vietnam in 1967-68, earning multiple medals and awards for his service. About nine days before he was set to return home from the war, he became paralyzed from the waist down. Once he got back to Boone County, he was active in his community, participating in sports and running along with enjoying a career as a pharmacist before his passing in 2019.
