Governor Declares State of Emergency for McDowell County

Gov. Jim Justice declared a state of emergency for McDowell County, where significant flooding Monday damaged more than 75 homes, about a dozen bridges and numerous roads. Justice directed the West Virginia Management Division to implement the West Virginia emergency operations plan as necessary, mobilize appropriate personnel and resources to respond to the emergency and use essential emergency services where they are needed. Justice said the state of emergency will remain in effect for 30 days unless ended by another proclamation.
