Suspected Floyd County Shooter is Issued an Indictment

A man was indicted by a Floyd County grand jury on Monday on murder and attempted murder charges in connection with the fatal shootings of three officers and the wounding of several other emergency officials. The indictments were handed down against Lance Storz in connection with the June 30 shootout in Allen, Ky., that claimed the lives of Floyd County Deputy William Petry, Prestonsburg Capt. Ralph Frasure and Prestonsburg police officer and K-9 handler Jacob Chaffins. Several other officers and a court official were wounded. Drago, a police K-9, was killed in the incident. Law enforcement officials were attempting to serve court papers when a man began firing at them from a barricade. An arraignment for Storz will take place in August.
