Crews Make Progress on Nitro-St. Albans Bridge

Construction on a new bridge spanning the Kanawha River from Nitro to St. Albans is on pace to be completed by the end of the year. The new Donald M. Legg Memorial Bridge is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2022, according to the West Virginia Department of Transportation. The new bridge is part of a $225 million project to widen Interstate 64 from Cabell County to Kanawha County, including from the bridge to the U.S. 35 interchange. Once the new bridge is completed, traffic will shift over to it while the old bridge is dismantled and another new bridge is built in its place.
