Inflation is Easing a Bit

Gas prices in the U.S. have fallen for 56 consecutive days, driving the decrease in inflation that remains high. “Core” inflation, which excludes the volatile food and energy prices, rose .3% in July, a smaller increase than April, May or June. But some economists are hopeful the persistently high prices that have pinched wallets may finally be moderating. Fed leaders don’t meet again until September when they are expected to raise rates again by .5 to .75%.
