The Kanawha County school system has created a web page to share information about the excess school levy that will be before voters in the November election and would raise millions of dollars for school safety and other improvements. On the ballot Nov. 8, the excess levy would allow the county’s schools to focus on the priority areas of staff retention and school positions, safety and security, additional HVAC/roofing needs and facility/extracurricular needs at the middle school and high school levels. School officials said the excess levy funding on this year’s ballot would fund initiatives July 2024 through July 2029 and would not result in an increase to taxes.
