Nitro will be getting a new multimillion-dollar athletic complex. Groundbreaking was held Monday for the new Nitro Athletic Complex, a $6 million project that will feature tennis, basketball and pickleball courts, a new swimming pool, splash pad and a welcome center. The groundbreaking took place at the city’s former pool that is being replaced after being operated 60 years. City officials said the pool is scheduled to be open for the summer of 2023.
