Plan to Rebuild Flood-Damaged Areas in Kentucky to Cost Millions

A plan to spend more than $212 million over the next six months to help rebuild Kentucky communities devastated by deadly flooding was announced this week by Gov. Andy Beshear and state lawmakers. The governor said the more than $212 million Eastern Kentucky flood relief plan is much like the aid provided to help Western Kentucky rebuild following last December’s tornadoes. Funding for relief from the July 26 flood includes $115 million for the Department of Military Affairs Division of Emergency Management to provide financial support to cities, counties, school districts, state agencies and nonprofit or public utility service providers in areas in the presidential declaration of a major disaster.
