The first retail tenant at the new Park Place development in South Charleston has officially broken ground. Mayor Frank Mullens said he believes Chick-fil-A will fit right into the community, and told WCHS TV they’ll be a great partner to have. The nearby Jefferson Road project is one that’s been in the works for years. Mullens said while it’s a state-run project, he believes things are running smoothly and on time. The city of South Charleston previously announced that Menards will be the next store to break ground at Park Place. Mullens said announcements about 20 to 26 more retailers are coming up soon. Chick-fil-A is expected to be complete by early 2023. Construction on Menards is expected to take longer. Mullens said it will take anywhere from eight to 12 months to build after they break ground on that project.
