Woman’s Body is Recovered Inside a Stolen Ambulance

The body of a woman who police said stole an ambulance and drove it into the Kanawha River has been recovered. It happened just after 1:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning in Charleston. First responders said the ambulance belonged to Cedar Grove and Elizabeth Reed of Hinton was a patient at CAMC General Hospital when she took the ambulance. She drove toward Kanawha Boulevard and into the Kanawha River. Reed’s body was recovered inside the ambulance by a search and rescue team about 10 a.m. Thursday and the incident remains under investigation.
