Two Charleston chefs were among the nominees in a list of highly-coveted food industry awards. Chefs Paul Smith, of 1010 Bridge, and Ramin Mirzakhani, of Laury’s Restaurant, were nominated for James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southeast. The two are among 20 semifinalists for the region, which spans West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Finalists will be announced on Wednesday, March 29, and the winners gala will be Monday, June 5, in Chicago.
