Senator Joe Manchin stopped by the Milton Volunteer Fire Department on Friday to talk about plans for a flood wall. A proposed $190.7 million investment would finish the Lower Mud River FLood Risk Management Project. Areas of Milton have been flood-prone, but Manchin said the floodwall project would improve flood protection in Milton and will change the floodplain from a 27-year floodplain to a 250-year floodplain. Most of the funding would come from the federal government, with the city of Milton and the state chipping in.
