New airline will start flights in Charleston in May

A new airline partnership between the state of West Virginia and the West Virginia International Yeager Airport was announced on Tuesday. Gov. Jim Justice’s Office called it a historic airline partnership that will connect the airport to new cities. Breeze Airways will begin providing service to the Kanawha County airport on May 31 with twice weekly flights to Charleston, South Carolina, a first for the route, along with twice weekly service to Orlando, Florida. Gov. Justice said the airline also will introduce three other destinations for Yeager over the next 24 months, potentially New York City and maybe the West Coast. In March, Spirit Airlines announced it would end its service at Yeager on May 4. Spirit’s move eliminates flights to Orlando and Myrtle Beach.

Flights are now on sale at www.flybreeze.com and via the Breeze app.
