A woman is sentenced for 2021 arson

A woman convicted of arson at a Family Dollar store in Charleston was sentenced to jail Tuesday. Prosecutors said 22-year old Latasia Badger was found guilty of setting fire to the Family Dollar in the 700 block of Virginia Street West in 2021, and was sentenced to 10 years in jail. Firefighters said Badger walked into the store on Feb. 8, 2021, and set a fire that heavily damaged the building. Badger was also sentenced to six months in jail on three misdemeanor assault charges. She will be given credit for time served and will be eligible for parole in 2025.
