Kanawha County is expected to receive about $7 million in opioid settlement money

County Commission president Kent Carper said the funding comes from opioid settlements in Kanawha County that also brought about $20 million for local cities and towns. Carper told Eyewitness News he believes the county will set aside the money for now and have public meetings or hearings on how to spend the $7 million. An 11-member West Virginia First Foundation is managing about $500 million in total settlement funds.
