A Kanawha County man is dead after accidentally shooting himself. The sheriff’s office said it happened in the 600 block of Walden Lane in St. Albans last Saturday and the man’s wife was the one who called 911. Instead of having the gun in a holster, it was kept in his pants pocket, and it accidentally discharged. Steven Loftis died at the home despite efforts by paramedics to save him. The West Virginia State medical Examiner’s Office will review the case, which is standard procedure.
