30-year old Benjamin Cisco of Charleston pleaded guilty to taking more than $870,000 from the un-named non-profit by transferring money from debit cards to a crowd-funding platform and eventually to his bank account, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The theft happened over the span of 2 1/2 years, ending in September 2022. Cisco admitted to doing this more than 100 times. Some money was also stolen through travel reimbursements. Cisco is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 13th.
