A scenic train route in West Virginia has reopened for the first time in nearly 40 years. The Trout Run Bridge connects Cass and Scenic railroad and opened for the first time since the bridge was washed out in 1985. The West Virginia Department of Transportation said the rail line had been open since the early 1900s. A Shay locomotive from Cass made a test run over the new bridge in early February 2023. The same locomotive cut the ribbon Friday during a ceremony to mark the opening.
