Heavy rainfall in southern West Virginia on Monday caused several homes to be evacuated in McDowell County.High water was reported in the Anawalt area Monday morning, according to dispatchers. Evacuations came after the National Weather Service said 2 to 3 inches of rain fell in portions of southern West Virginia, leading to flash flood warnings in nearby Mercer County. The forecast for the rest of the week calls for dry weather and highs in the 80s.
