Several law enforcement agencies are investigating a death at a rehabilitation facility in Jackson County. Investigators have searched the Hope Center Ministries in Sandyville after a non-resident died last week, according to a social media post from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. The post said the program’s credibility is under investigation. Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellinger said the death appears to be an overdose. In a phone interview with Eyewitness News, Mellinger cited transparency issues between the facility, health officials and law enforcement. The sheriff said several people inside the facility had outstanding warrants and some of the warrants were extraditable. The investigation is ongoing.
