An iconic shoe business closed its doors after more than 90 years, leaving more than 1,000 shoes stuck inside the shop where customers couldn’t get to them. According to a social media post from the city of South Charleston, the police chief said he started receiving complaints in late 2022 concerning Taylor Shoe Repair. The store abruptly closed in March 2023. Police said it took a month to get custody of the inventory and officers are in the process of going through the large number of shoes, some of which do not have name tags. Police said the department will contact people over the next several weeks regarding their missing shoes.
