University of Charleston student earns $25k for his business project

A University of Charleston student won an award at the annual West Virginia Business Plan Competition, earning $25,000 to put toward his project. The university said on its website that Dustin Ward, a retired Army Special Operations Veteran and student at UC, won for his innovative sleeping system – the Lite Sleeper. Ward said they shipped over 100 orders in the first couple of weeks and the next steps are to use the funding to buy more inventory and create a marketing campaign. Ward will graduate from UC this summer with a degree in Organizational Leadership. There’s more about Ward’s creation at www.thelitesleeper.com.
