A troubled Fayette County public service district wants pay raises and rate hikes as the West Virginia Public Service Commission plans hearings to figure out if it’s a failing utility. The hearings could result in a takeover by West Virginia American Water. Eyewitness News said the Armstrong Public Service District, which serves more than 800 customers near Montgomery, wants the commission to grant an emergency interim rate increase to keep going and it wants the commission to consider employee pay raises due to inflation. The PSC ordered a July 21 hearing.
