The Jefferson County Commission passed an ordinance this week that prohibits anyone under eighteen from attending live performances that depict, discuss, or simulate lewd behavior. The ordinance is already getting a reaction from the West Virginia chapter of the ACLU, noting that the ordinance was passed on the first day of Pride month, which celebrates the LGBTQ community. The ACLU says that, “Drag is a celebrated art form that is protected by the First Amendment.”
