Mingo County convenience store is accused of letting customers use SNAP benefits on items that aren’t allowed

A Mingo County convenience store has been subjected to a federal investigation by the United States Department of Agriculture for alleged fraudulent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program activity. Ownership of T&K Grocery, located along Marrowbone Creek Road in Kermit, has been accused of allowing customers to purchase gasoline, cigarettes, CBD products, bubble pipes and alcohol using SNAP benefits. Several documents have been seized as part of the investigation.More than $1.5 million in benefits were redeemed at the convenience store in the span of 27 months, according to the investigation.
