A request for a special prosecutor has been approved in a case involving Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper. The request by the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office was signed by Kanawha County Circuit Court Judge Tera Salango, who is serving as the chief judge of the circuit. Eyewitness News reported that the reason listed in the request was a conflict of interest. A criminal investigation into an incident involving Carper was launched after a woman at Daniel Boone Park said a man exposed himself to her on Monday, May 15. Police responded to the call and spoke to Carper and the woman who made the 911 call. Police sources have indicated that no citations or arrests were made.
