The U.S. Chemical Safety Board found safety lapses contributed to an explosion at the Optima Plant in Belle in 2020. A man from Hurricane was killed and the explosion caused over thirty-million-dollars in damage. An over-pressurized dryer caused what investigators described as a “runaway chemical reaction.”
