More than one hundred people came out for a public hearing to voice support or speak out against a new needle exchange program proposed by the Women’s Health Center. Charleston City Council is expected to vote on the program next month. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department’s needle exchange program was shut down in 2018 after mismanagement and complaints about needles not being disposed of properly.
