Salango decides not to run for governor

In a year where several candidates have thrown their hat in the ring to run for governor of West Virginia, one notable previous candidate has said he’s not joining the race. Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango will not seek the Democratic nomination for governor, according to a message shared on social media. Salango, who lost to current governor Jim Justice in 2020, said he looks forward to continuing his work as a county commissioner and as managing partner at Salango Law. The announcement comes as a crowded field of candidates have made their intentions known for the Republican nomination. The field includes West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, Terri Bradshaw, John “JB” McCuskey, Moore Capito, Chris Miller, Edwin Vanover, “Mac” Warner and Rashida Yost.
