West Virginia State Police are investigating after human remains were found in Mingo County last week. Troopers said what they believed to be human remains were found on Riffe Branch Road, off of Route 119, on July 13th. The remains were found in an area that people used to burn trash. They believe the remains had been there for no longer than a couple of weeks. Troopers said an autopsy was conducted Monday; but they still are not able to determine a cause of death, if the body is that of a man or woman, or an identity. Anybody with information on this case is asked to call the Williamson Detachment of the West Virginia State Police at (304) 235-6000.
