At last, the new Herbert Hoover High opens for classes

A new school opened on Friday. For seven years, students and staff at Herbert Hoover High have not had a building, but the new $100 million facility opened yesterday. It has separate wings for academics, arts and athletics, with an auxiliary gym and a main gym. The fine arts wing boasts new choir, band and art facilities and an auditorium. There are about 700 students attending the new Herbert Hoover High School, and they have had 40 out-of-area transfers. The school was predominantly funded by FEMA after the 2016 floods. They’re celebrating today with a ribbon-cutting followed by a football scrimmage and a performance from West Virginia’s own Brad Paisley.
